The PMP recognizes the competence of an individual to perform in the role of a project manager, specifically experience in leading and directing projects. Prerequisites: You should have work experience in the area of project management and be familiar with general project-management terms and concepts.  This course is not designed to teach professional how to be project managers, but is intended to help project managers successfully pass the PMP® certification exam.

This course is designed for experienced project managers who want to increase their project management skills, apply a standards-based approach to project management, and prepare for Project Management Institute, Inc. (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP®) Certification.

Course Objective:
You will apply the generally recognized practices of project management acknowledged by the Project Management Institute (PMI) to successfully manage projects and help prepare for the PMP® exam.  This course includes a variety of tools designed to help participants pass the test, including practice tests, mind maps, memorization techniques, test-taking pointers, tips and techniques (including diet and behavior tips). 

 

Course Overview:

  • Cover all nine Knowledge Areas as well as the five Process Groups

  • Review over 500 exam format sample questions throughout the course, and several complete 200 question tests intended to simulate the real exam

  • Review exercises for Inputs, Tools/Techniques, Outputs (ITTOs), and Terminology

  • Review Mindmaps for each Knowledge Area

  • Review clearly explained formulas with memorization keys

Students will have online access to the most up-to-date learning materials available, containing over 3500 test questions. Our course also  includes:  

  • Three different test modes

  • Tests for Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, and Closing

  • Tests for all Knowledge Areas including Professional and Social Responsibility

  • Tests for Inputs, Tools/Techniques, and Outputs (ITTOs)

Instructor Background:  This course is being taught by keynote speakers for this past year's annual PMI event.  They are extremely active and well-known in the PMI local community and serve on the Education Committee at NCPMI. 

 

Bill Flanagan is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®)  and Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP®) and has been a leader of people and projects for forty years.  He began his career with the United States Navy where he served as a Nuclear Submarine Engineering Officer.  This was followed by twenty-six years with Progress Energy providing leadership in both line of business management positions and major nuclear plant upgrade and improvement projects.  Having served Progress Energy both as a customer who chartered projects and a project manager who planned and executed projects has provided Bill with a unique perspective on project management.

 

John Keane is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) with more than 20 years experience as a project manager on large domestic and international projects for a global services company.  He has been a member of the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Chapter of the Project Management Institute.  A long time active member of the NCPMI education committee, he has participated in the development and presentation of the PMP prep class as well as other project related classes.  He was, most recently a keynote speaker at the NCPMI Annual Event on the subject of project risks and being an indispensable project manager / leader.   He brings a wealth of knowledge and practical experience on preparing for the PMP certification test into the classroom

 

 

* Certification Promise Details:  Participants must take the exam within 7 days of completing the course.  Students who do not pass must provide a copy of their PMP® Exam score sheet and re-take the course to qualify for exam fee reimbursement.  Candidates are reimbursed at the PMI Member Rate.  Students returning for a refresher course must retain and use  their original course materials.   Additional prerequisites are required.  Please call for more information.

Cancellation Policy:  Students must cancel or reschedule within 15 business days of the first day of PMP® certification courses; otherwise, the full tuition will be charged  for the course.
